Birdwell Competition Jackets have been a status symbol in the California surf scene as far back as the 1960s. As one of the first products we made—just after our board shorts-wearing one with a matching pair of Birdies marked a surfer as a member of a team or club. That often resulted in nods of respect or feelings of envy at the local break or boardwalk.  

Our competition jackets are cut from SurfNyl™️ and double-stitched for unbeatable durability by expert craftspeople in Southern California. They have also been stone-washed for softness and constructed with a mesh interior liner that delivers comfort and a broken-in feel.

• Features: Stone-washed SurfNyl™ fabric. Signature stripes across chest. Spread collar. Double brass zipper enclosure. Signature Birdwell pocket on sleeve. Birdwell woven label on back left hem.  Hip pockets hidden at side seam.
• Fit: Classic fit. Order one size up if you prefer a looser fit.  
• Fabric: Body made of Birdwell’s proprietary SurfNyl™️ for durability and a lightweight mesh liner for breathability and comfort. 
• Construction: Double-stitched with high-strength nylon thread. Hand-cut and sewn in Southern California.
