Williamson-Dickie Mfg. Co., better known simply as Dickies, was founded in Fort Worth, Texas in 1922 by C.N. Williamson and E.E. Dickie. Renowned for its simple but sturdy workwear, in the 100 years since its founding the brand has expanded to be sold in over 100 countries. Since 2020, the brand has started focusing on a more fashion-minded consumer, collaborating with streetwear brands, most notably Supreme, as well as building out their own design-focused collections.
This collaboration with New York Sunshine began during the summer of 2021, when two temporary physical installations were housed for six months in the beating desert sun of Marfa, Texas. The weathered fabrics that resulted from this installation were used to make the incredibly limited "Sun-Dyed in Texas" collection, while the second, concurrently-released collection is what you see here; a full collection, including pants, shirts, socks, headwear, and more inspired by the Marfa art installations.
