This is a vintage men’s raincoat made in England by Eskandar. Eskandar Nabavi established his brand during the 1990s, and found success when Neiman Marcus starting selling the line in the year 2000. Eskandar discontinued menswear in 2008 due to the economic crisis - I think that they endeavoured to re-introduce a men’s line in 2015, but I don’t believe that they are producing menswear today. This coat is made in an oversized, full length style with 86% linen and 14% infused polyurethane, I assume to give the fabric rain repellency. The coat has dropped shoulders, a seven button closure, a narrow shirt-type collar, a button-down flapped pocket built into either front side, cuffs that can be turned and a rain flap across the back. The coat is fairly light given its bulk. It is in a muted green colour that may be referred to as sage green.
Label: Eskandar.
Fabric label: 86% Linen / 14% PU CA00985. The CA textile identification number belongs to Holt Renfrew, a Canadian boutique type department store that sells only luxury and designer fashion and wares.
Sizing: The size label reads “1”, which I assume is one size fits all, and although this should fit a range of sizes, please rely on the following measurements for fit (please take the style of the coat into consideration):
Shoulders: 25” across from dropped shoulder/sleeve seam to dropped shoulder/sleeve seam
Sleeves: 18” long from the dropped shoulder/sleeve seam with the cuff turned, 20" long with the cuff unturned
Sleeve inseam: 17”
Chest: 62” around, taken under the arms, meant to be loose/oversized
Waist: 63” around, meant to fall loosely
Hips: 66” around
Overall length: 52", measured flat
Condition: Pre-owned, but it is in very condition with no wear, tear, staining or odour - this looks to have seen very little use.
Eskandar menswear is now a rare thing as it wasn’t produced for very long - this long raincoat is especially desirable, only one available, get it while you can!
