Isaac Sprague was one of the best know illustrators of his time, with a particular focus on botany. He left very few written works, and spent most of his life at home in Massachusetts. He is associated with North America's most famous ornithologist, John James Audubon, and joined Audubon on his expedition up the Missouri River in 1843.
