The waxed cotton fabric was originally developed for seafarers travelling between Scotland and Scandinavia. This required the fabric to be unbelievably rugged and water-resistant. From these early origins, waxed cotton products have become a quintessentially British fabric used in outdoor wear, most famously used in the inimitable waxed jacket.

The hallmark of the fabric other than its raw performance properties are the natural markings it develops over time when handled and worn. This will give your briefcase its own individual patina which looks better and better as it ages. A bag that gains character as you move around.

It's the Details That Matter
Our bags are handcrafted in England by specialist craftsmen with decades of skill and knowledge in the leather goods and fabrics industry. They use traditional techniques combined with contemporary equipment to produce luggage of exceptional quality.

Our Veg-tanned leather is imported from Tuscany because it's the finest available to the industry, made to last and exceptionally smooth to the touch.

We chose Riri zips as they are considered to be the highest quality zips in the world with enhanced durability and a buttery smooth operation. Our leather zip pullers feature debossed branding intentionally orientated for left and right, while the solid brass hardware beautifully complements the styling of the bag.

The leather handles have been sanded and burnished for the ultimate comfort when held. This is a superior finish to painting as it won't wear or crack over time. The edges are therefore beautifully smooth in your hand.

Finally, it is finished with a full leather external base for longevity.

Vegetable tanning is a process that is centuries old and today is a combination of ancient recipes and advanced technology. This slow process transforms the raw hide into leather and each hide has its own slightly unique tones.

But what does this slow tanning process mean in practice? The leather is firstly highly resilient and doesn't need to be treated, while minor scuffs in the leather can be easily buffed out. Also, it will develop a unique patina over time to complement the unique patina of the wax to give your briefcase its own unique characteristics. A truly beautiful product that only gets better with age.
