With our proclivity towards handwoven fabrics, it's no surprise that we've been big fans of Patriae - Barbara Pische's Asbury Park, NJ-based studio focused on vintage Slovakian hemp textiles - since she opened back in 2016. Barbara makes these patchwork sling bags from cuttings of the leftover hemp she uses to create her in-house line of totes, tops and homeware. Because every piece she makes is cut from different deadstock handlooms she personally sources from Slovakia, each patchwork on these bags is also a bit different. Before now, the only way to get one was to visit her on Bangs Ave. While we highly recommend that (be sure to stop at Cafe Volan for a coffee while you're there), we are honored to offer them here along side our own pieces.
