ABOUT THE CAUSE
Global Smile Foundation (GSF) volunteers have been dedicated to making first-class comprehensive cleft care accessible for all patients regardless of geographic or socioeconomic barriers. There is a pressing need for sustainable cleft care in developing countries where the consequences of cleft lip and palate are devastating if left untreated.
GSF has developed a unique model of medical mission care that provides long-term and multi-disciplinary cleft care while building sustainable local capacity for addressing cleft, going beyond fragmented corrective surgeries to include the full range of care—from pre-surgical dental orthopedics and feeding counseling to dental and orthodontic services, speech therapy, and psychosocial support. GSF returns to the same mission locations annually and to provide individualized follow-up care for our patients.
