The "Butler Way" started with legendary Bulldog basketball coach Tony Hinkle.  The 5 principles of the Butler Way are as follows...

4. Servanthood
5. Thankfulness

The term was picked up nationally as Butler continued making NCAA Tournament appearances and became common language during Butler's back to back National Championship Game appearances.
