This is a 100% pure cashmere coat made in England by Chester Barrie for Brisson & Brisson of Montreal.  

The fabric on this cashmere coat is thick, soft and in a deep navy blue colour.  This cashmere coat is made in a classic style with higher set notched lapels, three button closure, padded shoulders, flapped side pockets and a 19” kick vent.  The coat is fully lined in black viscose.  Difficult to date precisely, but I would think 1980s-1990s era.

Label:  Chester Barrie Loomed and Tailored In Great Britain for Brisson & Brisson Montreal.  The label inside one of the interior pockets reads “Made in England”.  Chester Barrie was a “semi-bespoke” tailor founded in 1935 and located at 19 Savile Row.  They had a factory in Crewe that produced suits and coats that would be then custom tailored for clients.  Austin Reed acquired the business in 1978. Brisson & Brisson was an exclusive men’s clothing boutique located in Montreal that closed some 20 years ago.  It was favoured by the Canadian business and political elite and Prime Minister Pierre Elliot Trudeau was a regular customer there. Anything that you bought at Brisson & Brisson was of exceptional quality.

Fabric label:  100% Cashmere.  A second label reads “Dry Clean Only Lining 100% Viscose”.

Sizing: The size label on this cashmere coat reads “R (Regular) 106cm 42”- Although this should fit a size large, please take the thickness of the fabric and the cut of this cashmere coat into consideration, as well as if you are intending on wearing a jacket underneath:

Sleeves: 26 1/2” from shoulder/sleeve seam

Sleeve Inseam: 17 1/2” long

Chest: 46” around, taken under the arms

Waist: 44”

Hips:  46”

Overall length: 4“, measured flat at the back from the neck seam

Condition:  Condition:  Although pre-owned, this cashmere coat is in very good condition - there is some matting to the nape (finish) on the back, but it is not pronounced.
