This is a wonderful 1940s day dress that is made of a brown gabardine fabric with beautiful weight and fall.  The fabric is woven with specks in tones of blue, red, green and white.  This 1940s day dress has a pointy straight collar, two matching buttons at either side of the upper bust and four buttons below the waist.  The sleeves are made in a bishop style, cut full, but with fitted cuffs, each cuff closing with two snaps that are covered with matching buttons.  The waist is seam defined and cinches with a matching belt.  The skirt is gathered below the waistline so that it falls in pleats.  It closes with a button at the back neck and with a metal zipper up the back and is unlined.   There is no label, but I’m sure that this 1940s day dress was manufactured.  The dress should fit a medium size but please note the following measurements for fit:

Shoulders:  15 1/2” across seam-to-seam

Sleeves:  27 1/2” from the shoulder seam, but meant to puff out at the cuff

Sleeve inseam:  19”

Bust:  38” 

Waist:  34”, meant to be cinched 

Hips:  38”, meant to fall loosely in pleats

Length:  42”, measured flat

Condition:  This 1940s day dress is in very clean condition with no pronounced wear, tear, stains or odour except for a tiny bit of wear to one corner of the belt buckle.  Otherwise, this 1940s day dress looks like it saw little use and was well stored over the years.
