This is a 1940s mens overcoat custom tailored in Milan, Italy.  This 1940s mens overcoat is made with padded shoulders, peaked lapels and has a double breasted four button front. There is a flapped pocket built into either side and a 13” kick vent at the back. This 1940s mens overcoat is lined with navy blue satin fabric. The wool is in a heavier weight, so would provide warmth for winter temperatures.  Note that the length is only past the knee, so this would probably be best for a shorter man or would be a car coat length for someone tall.

Age: Due to the peaked lapels and padded shoulders, this coat appears to be 1940s, although it possibly could be early 50s.  The 6 numerical digit telephone number might be a clue.

Label: G. Cisaria Via Losanna 46 Milano Tel 342139.  I haven’t found any information on this tailor, which tells me that he has been out of business for some time. 

Sizing: This 1940s mens overcoat has no size indicated because it was custom made, and although this should fit a size large (US size 42-44), depending on if you wish to wear a jacket underneath, please rely on the following measurements for fit, taken from the exterior:

Shoulders: 20 1/2” across shoulder/sleeve seams

Sleeves: 24” from the shoulder/sleeve seam

Sleeve Inseam: 16” long

Chest: 49” around, taken under the arms - 24 1/2” across pit-to-pit

Waist: 45” around

Overall length: 40“ measured at the back from neck seam to hemline

Condition: This 1940s mens overcoat is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear, stains or odours - there is, however, a tiny surface nibble at the left side (see last close-up photo), quite minor. Otherwise, this  1940s mens overcoat looks like it saw little use and was well kept over the years.  It would benefit from a cleaning, but is perfectly ready to wear as is.
