Vintage 1950s Geometric Print Velvet Coat Lydia Montreal Ladies Sz L

by poppysvintageclothing.com

  • Product Description

This is a very attractive 1950s velvet coat featuring a geometric circular pattern.  This velvet coat is made in typical 50s style with a wide shawl type collar, 3/4 length raglan sleeves and a flared cut that causes the coat to fall in drapes, particularly at the back. It secures at the front with a single large button.  It has a pocket built into either side and is lined in brown acetate.

Label:  Lydia Montreal.  There’s is an online article from the Montreal Gazette dated 1963 that profiles this designer “Lydia”, who specialized in designing raincoats - otherwise, I’ve been unable to find much else about the particular label on this devore velvet coat.

Material: Excellent quality cotton velvet, very soft to the touch.

Sizing: No size is indicated on this devore velvet coat, however, I believe the this should fit a large size - please note the following measurements for fit (please measure your body taking the style of the coat into account):

Shoulders:  17” across, estimated due to raglan sleeves

Sleeves:  17” long from the estimated shoulder

Sleeve inseam:  9 1/2” long

Bust:  44” around

Waist:  50” around, but should fit loosely

Hips:  56” around

Hemline:  74” around

Length:  36” long, measured flat

Condition:  This devore velvet coat is in very good condition with no wear, tear, stains or odour.  It was very well cared for over the years and is very clean.

These 50s era coats require wearing long gloves due to the 3/4 sleeve, but have a very elegant look - this printed velvet coat has a wonderful geometric pattern!
