This is a 1950s mens raccoon fur coat made in Montreal by Rainbow Furs.  This mens raccoon fur coat is made with a rounded collar that can be worn up or down and has notched lapels - you can either leave the top button undone for an open neckline or done up to protect the neck.  I’ve posed the neck in three different ways in the photos.  It has four buttons arranged in a double breasted style that secure with loops, however, one button is missing - you can still close the coat with one button, but it is easy to replace the missing button.  It has a slash pocket at either side.  The lining is quilted across the lower part.  The original owner’s embroidered monogram of “LJC” is affixed to the lining below the pocket.  There is a 19” kick vent at the bottom back this mens raccoon fur coat.

Sizing: No size is indicated on this mens raccoon fur coat, but it should fit a medium to large size, probably a US size 40/42, depending on whether you’re wearing a sweater or jacket underneath.  My husband wears a 42/44 and it fit him but was a little snug. Please rely on the following measurements of this mens raccoon fur coat for fit (compare measurements with a similar coat that you presently own or to your own body measurements, taking the cut of the garment and thickness of fur into account):

Shoulders: 19”, taken across the back from shoulder/sleeve seam to shoulder/sleeve seam

Chest:  48” around, taken under the arms -24” across pit-to-pit

Waist:  45” around

Overall length:  44”, measured flat at the back from the neck seam to the bottom

Condition:  This mens raccoon fur coat is in very good condition with no noted wear.  Raccoon tends to be a fairly robust fur - there are no splits or repairs to the fur pelts and the fur appears fresh.  The lining has some discolouration, but this is a minor consideration. 

This is a wonderful mens raccoon fur coat - you don’t often see a mens raccoon fur coat.  For the natty dresser!
