This is a vintage 1960s Swiss army overcoat. This Swiss army overcoat is made of medium weight wool a bluish/greenish grey colour. It has a military style collar and lapels, shoulder epaulettes and large turned sleeve cuffs that can be adjusted to the desired length. There are six buttons arranged in a double breasted fashion on the front plus a button under the right collar for securing the neck closed if desired. There are also two buttons under the left collar that are holding a neck bridge that is still present. There is a button down belt loop at either side. All buttons have a Swiss army raised cross on it. The coat is lined on the upper back and front sides only. There is stamping on the lining in red that reads “46AA” and “GE 63” - I think that the GE 63 stands for Geneva 1963.
Sizing: This Swiss army overcoat is a size medium to large, probably about a US size 40-42 long, depending on whether you want to wear a jacket underneath, but please rely on the following measurements for fit (please take the thickness of the wool and the style of this Swiss army overcoat into consideration):
Shoulders: 18” across shoulder seam-to-seam
Sleeves: 27 1/2” from shoulder seam, adjustable
Sleeve Inseam: 20” long
Chest: 46” around
Waist: 47” around
Overall length: 46” long, measured flat at the back from the neck seam
Condition: This Swiss army overcoat has been very well kept. All buttons are present and there is no noted wear to the wool, staining, soiling or odour.
This is a wonderful Swiss army overcoat - very attractive style and the usual high Swiss quality!
