This is a very nice quality vintage 1970s Marielle Fleury coat designed for Rainmaster - Fleury is considered to have been one of the most influential Quebec designers and her designs are becoming quite sought after.  The material on this Marielle Fleury coat is made of a soft cotton velvet.  The coat is made with a high set military style lapel and collar with an eight gold toned button double breasted closure.  It has a slash pocket at either side with a flap positioned horizontally over each.  The back waist on this Marielle Fleury coat has a faux belt that is decorated with two gold toned buttons. 

Label: Rainmaster by Marielle Fleury Made in Canada.  Rainmaster was a trademark of Sport Togs, which hired Fleury in 1969 to design a line under her own name.

Union label:  ILGWU, International Ladies Garment Workers Union, used between 1968 and 1984

Age:  Early 1970s, circa 1970-1972

Sizing: There is no size label on this Marielle Fleury coat, but it should fit a small size.  Please note the following measurements for fit, perhaps measuring a similar coat that you own for comparison:

Shoulders:  16” across

Sleeves:  22 1/2” long

Sleeve inseam:  15 1/2”

Bust:  39” around, allow extra room for fit

Waist:  36” around

Hips:  40” around

Length:  40”, measured flat

Condition:  This Marielle Fleury coat is in very good condition with no pronounced marking, wear, tear or stains - this appears to have seen little use and was well cared for and stored over the years.

This is a wonderful purple velvet Marielle Fleury coat - great acquisition for the Canadian fashion collector or just a very stylish coat!
