This is a vintage 1980s ladies suit made by Adolfo and sold at Saks Fifth Avenue. The wool on this 1980s ladies suit is knit in a black and white herringbone check. The jacket is made in a classic style with a shirt type collar, padded shoulders, four button and loop closure, button-down flapped pocket at either side front and above the wrist length sleeves with three buttons at either cuff. The buttons feature a large raised gold A against black. The skirt is made in a below-the-knee length. This 1980s ladies suit is unlined.
Label: Adolfo at Saks Fifth Avenue. Adolfo Sardina began his career as a milliner for Bergdorf Goodman in 1948 and apprenticed both at the House of Balenciaga and at Chanel during the 1950s. He started his own millinery in 1962 and eventually expanded his line to include women’s clothing, accessories and perfume. He had a loyal following that included Nancy Reagan, C.Z. Guest and the Duchess of Windsor.

Length: 21” measured at the back from the neck seam

Waist: 25” around, stretches out to 30”, comfortable suit would be somewhere in between

Length: 22”
Condition: This 1980s ladies suit is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear, soiling or staining - there is some wear to the gold finish on some of the button.
This 1980s ladies suit features a wonderful contrasting large and smaller herringbone pattern - very 80s!
