This is a vintage 50s era blanket throw that is made in the pattern and colours of the Royal Stewart tartan - beautiful tones of yellow, blue, green, black and white against a red background. The piece could probably be used as a shawl as posed in the photos, but I do believe that its intended use was as a throw. This Royal Stewart tartan throw was made in Scotland for R.W. Forsyth, a popular Glasgow based department store, with a location in Edinburgh, originally founded in 1872, and which closed its doors in 1982. I believe that the piece is made of a blend of mohair and wool. It measures 55” in width by 66” in length excluding its pulled fringe . It is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear or other defect. This is a lovely quality mohair throw in the Royal Stewart tartan pattern!
