This is a 1960s vintage 100% pure cashmere sweater made in a cardigan style in England by Alan Paine. The cashmere sweater is made in a classic cardigan style with a V shaped neckline, five button closure and long sleeves. The neckline, cuffs and bottom are ribbed. There is a pocket at either bottom front side. The cashmere has good body - not thin and of excellent quality.
Colour: Light yellow in a beige tone - pale yellow but with a bit of red/brown in it, subtle and interesting in tone.
Sizing: The label on this cashmere sweater reads size 40, and although this should fit a medium size, depending on preference for looseness or tightness of fit, please note the following measurements for fit:
Shoulders: 14” across from shoulder/sleeve seam to shoulder/sleeve seam
Sleeves: 24” long, from the shoulder/sleeve seam to the cuff
Sleeve Inseam: 18”, cuff unturned
Chest: 39” around, taken under the arms, unstretched
Bottom: 38” around, unstretched, can stretch out to 34”
Overall length: 25“, measured flat, taken at the back from the neck seam
Condition: This cashmere sweater is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear, - there are two very light spots on the right elbow...hard to see and photograph. This sweater looks to have seen little use and was well stored over the years.
This is a wonderful vintage cashmere sweater - lovely British quality, very soft cashmere and interesting colour tone!
