This is a vintage hand knit cardigan sweater featuring Nordic style patterned bright multicoloured yoke and cuffs. The colours are in primary tones of blue, yellow, red and black. The off-white body has a raised vertical bar pattern through out. There is no label, but the multiple coloured knit originated in Fair Isle, Scotland - I can’t say, however, where this sweater was made as there are no labels. It has raglan style sleeves, almost like a dropped shoulder sleeve that is attached to the yoke, and a ten button closure. I would guess that it dates to the 1960s, This knit cardigan sweater is made for a medium to large size (US size 40/42), but please note the following measurements for fit:
Shoulders: 18” across, estimated
Sleeves: 33” from the mid neck to the cuff, following the contour of the shoulder
Sleeve inseam: 17” long
Chest: 40” around, taken under the arm, unstretched
Bottom: 35” around the bottom band, unstretched, stretches out to 42”
Length: 25 1/2”, measured flat
This hand knit cardigan is in very clean condition with no pronounced wear, tear, stains or odour.
