This is a stunningly striking Japanese silk kimono made in a hot pink colour with lighter pink decoration. There are no labels nor is there any closure - one would normally wear an obi with this, but none is supplied. The kimono is unlined and it is hand sewn.
Fabric: There is no content label, but I’m fairly sure that the fabric is silk.
Age: Unsure of the age of this Japanese silk kimono, but I would think mid-century, 1950s-60s
Sizing: This Japanese silk kimono should fit a range of sizes, but please note the following measurements for fit:
Top: 50” across the top with the shoulders and sleeves in a straight line
Shoulders: 24” across from shoulder seam to shoulder seam - the shoulder drops onto the upper arm
Sleeves: 12 3/4” long from shoulder seam with a 28” long sleeve drop
Bust: 46” around with a normal overlap at the opening, but meant to hang loosely, and measurement depends on amount of overlap
Waist: 46” around, but meant to be cinched with the matching belt
Length: 58”, measured flat at the back from the neck seam
Condition: This Japanese silk kimono is in very good condition - the exterior is very clean without noted wear, tear, staining, soiling or odour, but there is one small smudge mark at the opening edge (see last close-up photo) that I haven’t tried to remove, very minor in any case.
This is a striking Japanese silk kimono.... fabulous colour!
