This is a gorgeous vintage Louis Feraud mink coat made in a medium brown colour that I believe is called pastel brown.  This Louis Feraud mink coat is made in a classic style with padded, rounded shoulders, full cut sleeves and cut with a slight flare to the knee-length hemline.  It has a squared collar that can be worn either with an open neckline, buttoned or placed up around the neck (see photos for different poses).  The pelts are female mink and beautifully matched - female mink is lighter in weight than male mink, softer and more supple than male mink. Additionally, female pelts have a high lustre, are very silky and soft and are more adaptable to tailoring and draping.  This Louis Feraud mink coat is lined in a satin fabric that is woven with the Louis Feraud logo throughout.  The brass button at the neckline is made in the form of the Feraud logo and there is a pocket built into either side.

Age: This Louis Feraud mink coat most likely dates to the 1980s

Label: Louis Feraud Fourrure Chez Holt Renfrew.  Louis Feraud (1920-1999) established his couture house in Paris in 1955 and by 1957 was dressing the Parisian elite, designing many of the outfits used by Brigitte Bardot in her movies.  During the 80s he designed for Joan Collins, who wore some of his creations on the television show Dynasty.  He retired in 1995, passing away in 1999 at the age of 79.  This Louis Feraud mink coat would have been designed during his lifetime. Holt Renfrew is a venerable Canadian department store that specializes in designer fashion and luxury goods.
