This is a very nice quality vintage mens silk dressing gown or lounging robe made in a warm taupe colour with a bluish undertone. This mens silk dressing gown has a shawl collar, turned cuffs and has a matching sash belt. It has a chest pocket and large patch pocket at either side. It is unlined.
Fabric: Raw silk - you can see the “slubs”, typical of raw silk in the material
Age: 1950s, maybe very early 60s
Label: Tailored by Bonnington Reg’d. The neck loop reads “Bonnington M Tailored By H.V. Cowie Co. Cowie was founded in 1922 by Hedley Vicars Cowie and specialized in manufacturing and importing menswear. Bonnington was registered as a brand in 1945. The company declined after H.V. Cowie’s death in 1965 and the plant was sold in 1967, although they continued activity as an importer until dissolution in 2008.
Sizing: Size M for medium is indicated, so this mens silk dressing gown should fit a man that fits a US size 38-40. Please rely on the following measurements for fit:
