This is a very nice quality striped velvet mens jacket made under the Laurent Alexandre Paris brand name. The jacket has high set notched lapels, a flapped pocket at either side and a pocket at the left chest. It has a three button closure and there are three buttons at either cuff. The back bottom has a double vent and the jacket is fully lined in a striped silver grey coloured fabric. It has a three pockets built into the interior lining.
Label: Laurent Alexandre Paris. There is a loose content label inside the inner pocket that read CA00429, which is the Canadian Textile Identification number for the “Manufacture de Vetements Empire Inc/Empire Clothing Manufacturing Company”, a Montreal based manufacturer founded in 1917. They contract manufacture, produce their own Empire brand and also produce made to measure - present brands include Peter Millar and Biella.
Union: Unite/SVTI (Syndicat du vêtement, textile et autres industries). This union was formed in 1995, so the jacket most likely dates to the late 90s
Color: Stripes in tones of orange, red, yellow, dark navy blue and beige
Material: 98% Cotton / 2% Lycra is indicated on the content label
Sizing: There is no size label, and although this should fit a large size, probably a US size 44, please rely on the following measurements for fit (compare measurements with a similar jacket that you presently own or to your own body measurements, taking the fitted cut of the garment into account):
Shoulders: 20” across from shoulder/sleeve seam to shoulder/sleeve seam
Sleeves: 26” from the shoulder/sleeve seam
Sleeve inseam: 16 1/2”
Chest: 47” around, taken under the arms
Waist: 45” around
Overall length: 33”, measured flat
Condition: It is in very good condition with no stains, odors, pronounced wear or tears - this jacket looks to have seen very little use and has been well cared for over the years.
This is a sharp looking jacket - nice quality, very striking!
