This is a striking silk jacket of Thai origin featuring quality woven silk. The jacket has Chinese 16 brass coin buttons affixed to the opening, eight coins on either side. I’m not a Thai silk expert, but I think that the jacket is made of a mix of “praewa” silk and “mudmee” silk. It is made with mid-forearm length sleeves and has a contrasting patch pocket at either bottom side. Otherwise, this silk jacket is quite simple, yet very elegant, a beautiful piece to dress up an outfit.
Age: Uncertain, but probably 1960s, given the look of the size label
Sizing: Size 42 is indicated, and although this silk jacket should fit a medium size, please rely on the following measurements for fit:
Shoulders: 16” across seam-to-seam
Sleeves: 18” long from the shoulder seam
Sleeve Inseam: 17” long
Bust: 38” around, taken under the arms, with a normal gap at the opening
Waist: 36” around
Length: 27”
Condition: It is in clean condition with no wear, tear, soiling, staining or odour. This has been very well taken care of over the years.
Very rich looking silk jacket - Thailand has a long tradition of quality silk weaving!
