I have always had a thing for old watches. There is something about the character of an old watch that just defines "Old School Cool" for me. I've just thought it was so much cooler to discover a beautiful old watch than to just walk into a store and buy a new one. There is a strength in knowing how old they are and seeing them faithfully keep perfect time. There is a magic in thinking of the life that this watch had before it came into your hands. And there is a beauty in knowing that some things just never go out of style.

When I was growing up, my dad never splurged on anything. His focus was on taking care of us kids.  But the one thing that he loved was a great watch. I think I inherited that from him.  As Blade + Blue is really a 'Thank - You' letter to my father for all that he taught us about being men, I couldn't be more excited and proud than to share this collection of beautiful found watches with you.

Oh boy, this one kills me.

This is a vintage 1972 Timex with a ridiculously good-looking multicolored face. It is painted steely blue & white, but the yellow hands & time markers and the orange second hand really add character to this piece. Even the font used for the time markers is worth a look.

I have to mention that this watch runs on automatic movement. This means that it doesn't run on a battery or even from daily winding. This watch runs on kinetic energy that builds up when being moved. For example, the motion of your arm when you are wearing it helps build up it's energy supply. It is absolutely old school.

I recommend that you familiarize yourself with automatic movements if you are interested in purchasing this watch. What you need to really know is that if the watch remains unused for a while, it needs to build up energy in it's system in order to properly function.  So you may need to wear the watch for about an hour for it to gather the fuel it needs to run.

I've seen companies making new watches with automatic movement and I've also witnessed some frustrated youngsters who aren't familiar with this type of functionality.

I placed a new textured black leather band on him, I think the white stitching catches the white in the face just perfectly.
