Here is a lovely antique blue cotton dress with white machine embroidered appliqué trim.   It is a simple country dress which is very well made in a blouson bodice styling..  It does up with its orginal 18 mother of pearl  buttons.  There is a machine lace inset collar which is trimmed in a dotted net lace. The sleeves are also trimmed in a different lace trim.  I believe this blue fabric was more than likely sold with this white appliqué border trim which you would then fashion into a garment.

Condition is good, there are numerous rust colored stains throughout, I have counted approximately 25, some are very tiny and others a little larger as the photos indicate.  I have not tried to remove these at all.  There is also one of these spots at the top of the lace collar.    There are a couple of tears at the edging of the inset lace collar.  There is also a tear at the seam of the faggoting  on the side of the dress, an easy repair.

These simple country garments are not easy to come by as they were generally worn out or repurposed during the depression era.   This is still a very wearable garment and a fabulous example of an early country day dress, so charming.
