This is a wonderful antique brooch or pin that is enamelled in the art nouveau style.  The centre compartment is meant to hold a photo.  The original photo is still present and is of what appears to be a mother with her son.  The brooch is not large, measuring 1 1/4” in diameter.  It is in very good condition - the photo has a bit of cracking/wear to it, please view the enlarged photos.   I’m unsure if it’s covered by celluloid or not.  The enamel would benefit from a cleaning - I noticed a few striations in the enlarged photo, but this is not noticeable under normal viewing.  The back has both a loop for wearing as a pendant and a pin for wearing as a brooch.  The fastener consists of a tube hinge and C catch, certainly dates prior to 1910, and judging by the style of the enamel, probably dates to the turn of the century.  Nice piece of old enamel - you can always put your own loved one’s photo in place of the one presently there.
