The vastness of Lake Superior allows us the exhilarating anticipation of seeing storms roll in that begin far out into the water. The colors change, waves grow choppy and clouds move in great, heavy masses. Sometimes you see that interesting strip of light just above the horizon beneath the clouds. I love that part.

I also love thinking about the fish below. Do they know when it’s raining? Can they see the whitecapped waves above? Do they talk weather like we do, watching the storm visit the fish first?

This print is part of a small lake series inspired by how that same body of water and sky changes color and texture daily. There seem to be a thousand different portraits Lake Superior could pose for. This is one I love.
