The poppy is a flowering plant in the subfamily Papaveroideae of the family of the same name. Poppies are herbaceous plants, often grown for their colourful flowers. In addition to being the source of the narcotic drug, opium, the poppy has become known for a number of symbolic meanings, including a symbol of remembrance of soldiers who have died during wartime. But for our purposes, the poppy is notable as the birth flower of the month of August. Inspired by the love that Valentine's Day brings to the month of February, this is our version of a bouquet - on a on a dad hat.
