Wisconsin Design Team is a Wisconsin originated creative collective whose goal is to design and distribute the spirit and traditions of the Midwest through clothing. The initiative was launched in 2021 in order to reconnect with their home state; the work features a broad range of designs borrowing from collegiate design language and mundane Wisconsin icons, told through a fresh streetwear-influenced perspective.
This collaboration between Wisconsin Design Team and August features a print of "Lady Liberty", an installation originally erected in 1979 on a frozen Lake Mendota near the UW campus by the Pail and Shovel party when they rose to power in the student government. The original installment unfortunately became victim to arson shortly after its unveiling, but in 2019 the University has installed an inflatable version every winter, ensuring its place as a Madison tradition.
