  • Product Description

Mekhela Chador is traditional Assamese dress. There are two main pieces of cloth that are draped around the body.
The bottom portion, Mekhela, is in a form of wide cylindrical cloth like sarong that’s draped from the waist downwards folded into one or two pleats around the waist tucked in.
The upper portion is called the chador. It is a long length of cloth that has one end tucked into the upper portion of the mekhela traditionally in triangular folds and the rest draped over and around the rest of the body. The depicted draping style shown in this listing is contemporary. A fitted blouse is worn underneath Chador. This attire is different from a Saree and is similar to other traditional outfits of South-East Asian nations.

Chador length 108 (2.7 meters/3 yards), width 38
Blouse material length 32, width 38
