Nambu Ironware (called Nambu tekki in Japanese) is a form of metalwork produced in Morioka City and Oshu City in Iwate prefecture. It is a traditional craft that was first created in the middle of the Edo period (1603-1868). Kenji Miyazawa was a Japanese novelist and poet of children's literature from Hanamaki, Iwate, in the late Taishō and early Shōwa periods. He was also known as an agricultural science teacher, a vegetarian, cellist, devout Buddhist, and utopian social activist.
