The Bobber

Starting with a 1985 BMW R80 The Bobber is stripped the bike down to the frame and de-tabbed for every mounting bracket that wasn't going to get used. The factory Monoshock bikes are perfect for a bobber build as you can delete the subframe completely and the bike was engineered to run that way. Why waste all that factory R&D. The back bone of the bike extended to facilitate the tractor seat and finished it off with a flush mount brake light. The rear suspension was upgraded to an Öhlins unit with external reservoir. The factory exhaust hangars were retained as were the standard factory header pipes and collector, RC fabricated a pair of tail pipes that incorporate a factory type bracket to mount to the hangar. The result is a shorty exhaust with sufficient back-pressure, a solid mount to the frame and a good exhaust note that isn’t obnoxiously loud.

The engine is upgraded to an R100RS unit with 1000cc, rebuilt to factory specs and upgrades to the heads that were port matched and polished long with installing valve seals. The Mikuni carburetors were jetted and tuned to suit the custom exhaust and K&N cone filters. The factory airbox was deleted along with the pulse-air emissions equipment, a fastback starter cover replaces the standard unit. The starter was upgraded to a lightweight hi-torque unit to compliment the lithium battery that is housed safely under the gas tank. The factory charge system was replaced with a modern upgraded unit, far superior to the original and facilitates safe use of the lithium battery.

A 1974 headlight bucket and fork ears are mounted to a pair of K-Series forks. An upgraded option for the Bobber is a set of GSXR USD forks that can be added to your build for a modern front end addition to this already outstanding build. (please note this a $5000 usd add on for the GSXR front end)

The ignition barrel is mounted in the 70’s factory position in the side of the headlight bucket. The internals have been upgraded to LED for brighter light and less draw on the battery.

A Motogadget Motoscope Tiny Speedometer is mounted to Renthal motocross handlebars. Hand controls are new OEM units, modified to suit the custom wiring harness. All original hardware was zinc plated.

Factory rims are powder coated flat black and clad in Continental TKC80 Tires. The frame is finished in a Semi-Gloss Black powder coat and the gas tank is finished in a two-tone Gloss-Black:Flat-Black Glasurit paint and wears custom CNC roundels.

The Bobber is a built to order Motorcycle and lead time is roughly 3 months.

All bikes are hand assembled in Los Angeles and come with a full year warranty and full year complimentary service.
