Forever grateful because in the times before social media, representation in the media, and general awareness seeing and hearing this on MTV was life-changing and meant the world to countless teens in the eighties when it was still ok in some states to kill, harm, and generally discriminate against LGBTQ+ folks… this song instantly created a community.
