This particular wood is known for its abundant white flower, which when bloomed, smells of almonds. Ella Bing found it odd that a tree smelling of almonds was given the name Hard Pear, but hey, we aren't dendrologist, we are just makers of awesome bow ties. Naming aside, this hard wood generally used for fine furniture, thus making it a perfect bow tie.
