Story:
Finding new denim brands that meet our criteria of quality is not easy. Finding a brand that holds itself to high principles of unique fabric and high quality sewing while also doing something different from the legacy OH brands is a difficult process. So as we were looking for interesting brands using stretch fabric we were stoked to be pointed to Hiroshi Kato.
Kato uses a Premium Japanese 4-Way Stretch Selvedge denim that starts in Japan where the fabric was developed at one of the oldest denim mills. They come up with a blend of unique 4 way stretch material with selvedge denim to create a specific amount of stretch and comfort you wouldn’t typically get with selvedge denim. This 360 degree of stretch gives the wearer comfort from every angle no matter what they are doing.
The 4-Way Stretch selvedge fabric woven using vintage shuttle looms. Rolls of denim fabric are then brought back to Kato's workshop in Los Angeles where each pair goes through a 60 to 90 day process of cut, sew, washing and testing.
