This is a vintage “new wave” style mens suit dating to the early 80s. The suit is made in a blue and black striped weave. The jacket is made in a short waisted style with padded shoulders and wide upper body with a fitted waist that has a two button closure. The lapels are made in an elongated shawl style. There is a jetted pocket built into the left chest area. The pants are cut with a tight waist, pleated under the waistline with room in the hips and roomy leg. There is a pocket built into either side. The jacket is fully lined but the pants are not.

Label: Tyvek label stating Union Made in Canada with the Canadian textile identification number of CA 17119, which belongs to Morwill Clothing Mfg. Co. Ltd.., a Montreal based clothing company.

Material: 95% viscose / 5% silk

Sizing: Size 38 regular is indicated on the jacket, and although this should fit a medium size, please rely on the following measurements for fit (compare measurement with a similar garment that you presently own or to your own body measurements, taking the cut of the garment into account):

Jacket:

Shoulders: 20” across, from shoulder/sleeve seam to shoulder/sleeve seam

Sleeves: 24” long from the shoulder/sleeve seam

Sleeve inseam: 16” long

Chest: 45” around, taken under the arm opening, meant to be loose/wide

Waist: 41” around

Overall length: 25 1/2”, measured flat

Pants:

Waist: 32” around

Length: 40”, measured flat

Leg inseam: 28 1/2”, measured flat

Condition: It is in very good condition with no stains, odors, pronounced wear or tears - there is some discolouration to the lining at the shoulders and pockets where the light blue colour has gone purplish (see photo of pocket). Otherwise, this suit looks to have seen moderate use and was well cared for over the years.

This is a great looking new wave era suit - great suit if you’re into 80s bands!
