I have always had a thing for old watches. There is something about the character of an old watch that just defines "Old School Cool" for me.

I've just thought it was so much cooler to discover a beautiful old watch than to just walk into a store and buy a new one. There is a strength in knowing how old they are and seeing them faithfully keep perfect time. There is a magic in thinking of the life that this watch had before it came into your hands. And there is a beauty in knowing that some things just never go out of style.

When I was growing up, my dad never splurged on anything. His focus was on taking care of us kids.  But the one thing that he loved was a great watch. I think I inherited that from him.  As Blade + Blue is really a 'Thank - You' letter to my father for all that he taught us about being men, I couldn't be more excited and proud than to share this collection of beautiful found watches with you.  

You may have noticed that I really like putting interesting bands on old watches. One reason I do this is because old bands usually look like they've been through hell. And it's kind of my way of breathing new life into the piece.

Very few watch companies have the history that the Longines company possesses. They started making watches in the late 1800's and have come to be known for their masculine & luxurious style.

This is a military inspired piece from the 1940's in excellent condition. 

Please note: the the most accurate color of the face is in the image of the watch on my arm. It was impossible for the camera to get the accurate color with straight on shots (what can I say? I'm not a great photographer).

There is so much detail in the face, I don't know where to begin. 

The silvered, lume-filled Arabic numeral dial is in beautiful shape with odd numbered hour markers, syringe-shaped hands which are also lume-filled and an outer five-minute & seconds track. Damn it is good looking!

This watch keeps good time & requires daily winding.
