  • Product Description

This is an exceptional quality pair of beige or natural toned peccary leather gloves most likely made in France.  There are only a few glove makers in the world still offering peccary leather gloves - one being Poujade in France and another being Dents in England.  The gloves are in excellent condition and look unused, still attached by a plastic barb and retaining the original hang tag, which reads “Hand Sewn”.  The interior of the left hand glove is stamped “Veritable Pecari with an illustration of a peccary pig.  Peccary leather comes from a type of wild pig native to Central and South America - note the distinctive series of three hair follicle holes throughout the leather.  Its leather is valuable and prized for its suppleness and durability - it is also known for developing an attractive patina over time.  This pair of peccary leather gloves are in excellent condition, but have small defects on the top of the right glove as pictured in the photos.  This is original to the hide, typical, and actually an indication of the genuine nature of the leather as these defects are normal in peccary leather.  These peccary leather gloves are sized as a 7 (women’s medium). but would have to be “worked in” (stretched) as they are unused.  Please note the following measurements.  They have a length of 9 1/2” to the middle finger.  They measure 3 1/4” across the palm - as mentioned, these would have to be “worked in” to stretch.  The middle finger measures 3 5/8” in length.  I believe that these peccary leather gloves date to the 1960s, maybe 1970s.

This is a wonderful pair of vintage peccary leather gloves, rare to find unused like this - excellent quality!
