This is a wonderful vintage gabardine German military trenchcoat / raincoat made by Raka. Raka, from what I can surmise, was a supplier of military garments. This German military trenchcoat has military style lapels, slant pocket at either side, belt at the waist with leather buckle, button down kick pleat at the back, six button double breasted front and collar that can be worn either tight to the neck or open - there are buttons for epaulets, but they are missing. The coat is lined in satin viscose.
Age: I believe that this German military trenchcoat dates to the 1950s
Label: RAKA US I 2e/09/15408/004/3 178/112 8405-12-129-1164. The presence of US on the label makes me wonder if this was made for US security forces present in Germany post-WWII
Color: Bluish grey or greyish blue
Material: Gabardine, most likely wool gabardine
Sizing: Size 30 is indicated, but this German military trenchcoat appears to be a US size extra large or even a 2XL - please rely on the following measurements, taken from the outside, for fit:
Shoulders: 21” across
Sleeves: 26” long
Sleeve Inseam: 16 1/2”
Chest: 54” around
Waist: 50” around uncinched - meant to be cinched with belt
Hips: 54”
Length: 48”
Condition: This German military trenchcoat is in very good condition with a few small issues, aside from the missing epaulets. There is a lot of wear to the leather on the belt buckle, there is a small whiteish mark on the left sleeve near the cuff as well as a fray spot to the left cuff edge (see last two close-up photos), In addition, there is a small hole to the lining at the bottom right, quite minor. Otherwise, no other pronounced wear, tear, odour or stains. This German military trenchcoat was well stored over the years and looks like it saw very moderate use.
This is a nice quality gabardine German military trenchcoat, hard to find in this extra large size - with a bit of work, this will be a wonderful trench coat!
