"Much of my love of textiles and handmade heritage is nurtured by time I spend each year in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Thirteen years ago, I first began to rent a little place for the month of July, attending the brilliant International Folk Art Market and meeting with textile aficionados who have found their home there. I felt a deep affection for the city and roots began to grow, such that my husband and I finally purchased a tiny old adobe house there. The garden is also tiny, but as large as the whole house, and I work in that cool mountain air through summer months.
I filled the house with the textiles I found at overflowing flea markets and these became the context for Ibu designs. When we were asked for permission to photograph the little house for a new book, we agreed, with the attribution going to Ibu. Casa Ibu, that is.
We're offering this beautiful book by Jane Smith at Ibu and online for those who have a yearning for the wide open skies of New Mexico, and the authentic, craft-filled homes of Santa Fe, testimonies to a sense of place. "
