This is a 1960s era mens raccoon fur coat made in a shorter “car coat” length. This mens raccoon fur coat is made with a rounded collar that can be worn up or down and has notched lapels. It has six buttons arranged in a double breasted style and closes with three loops. It has a slash pocket at either side. It also has an interior fur trimmed pocket. The lining is quilted across the lower part. The neck can be worn open or closed - the loop is present but the button is detached, but can be re-attached. The original owner’s embroidered monogram of “PM” is affixed to the lining below the pocket.
Label: Reid Montreal Canada. Reid is a quality furrier, still in existence.
Sizing: No size is indicated on this mens raccoon fur coat, but it should fit a medium to large size, probably a US size 40/42, depending on whether you’re wearing a sweater or jacket underneath - please rely on the following measurements of this mens raccoon fur coat for fit (compare measurements with a similar coat that you presently own or to your own body measurements, taking the cut of the garment and thickness of fur into account):
Shoulders: 18”, taken across the back from shoulder/sleeve seam to shoulder/sleeve seam
Sleeves: 24” from the shoulder/sleeve seam
Sleeve inseam: 16 1/2”
Chest: 46” around, taken under the arms
Waist: 46” around
Overall length: 39”, measured flat at the back from the neck seam to the bottom
Condition: This mens raccoon fur coat is in very good condition with no noted wear, except for a small fray spot to the lining above the pocket, very minor (see last close-up photo). Raccoon tends to be a fairly robust fur - there are no splits or repairs to the fur pelts and the fur appears fresh.
This is a wonderful mens raccoon fur coat - you don’t often see a mens raccoon fur coat. For the natty dresser!
