This is a wonderful example of a 1970s leisure suit.  The leisure suit as we know it was “invented” by Jerry Rosengarten in 1970 and hit its height of popularity in 1975.  This 1970s leisure suit is made in a beige colour, and the jacket has typical leisure detailing, which took inspiration from the safari suit - padded shoulders, pointy collar with wide, high-set notched lapels, four button-down flapped patch pockets on the front, the chest pockets with box pleats, and with a 12” vent at the bottom back.  The jacket has a four button closure and is lined in a bronze coloured taffeta-like fabric, probably acetate.  The pants are made with a flat front and have a bell bottom leg.  The pants have a belt that came with the suit.

Material: unmarked as to content, but this 1970s leisure suit appears to be made of a linen blend - maybe with silk, or with a synthetic, it’s difficult to say for sure

Sizing: Size 40 regular is indicated on this 1970s leisure suit, but my measurements appear to be more in line with a size 38 - please rely on the following measurements for fit, taken from the exterior (please take the style of this 1970s leisure suit and the thickness of the fabric into consideration):

Jacket:

Shoulders: 17 1/2” across shoulder seam-to-seam 

Sleeves: 25” from shoulder seam

Sleeve Inseam: 18” long

Chest: 42” around, taken under the arms

Waist: 38” around

Overall length: 30 1/2“

Pants:

Waist: 32” around

Hips:  39” around

Leg Inseam: 28 1/2” long

Overall length: 40” - there is 2 3/8” of fabric inside the cuff should you need more length

Condition:  This 1970s leisure suit is in very good condition with no wear, tear, stains or odours - it looks like it saw moderate use and was very well kept over the years.
