This is a vintage early 1960s era, maybe late 50s dress made of red chiffon fabric over a red opaque base. The dress is sleeveless, has a V shaped neckline, a banded waist and a full skirt. The fabric is gathered in tucks under the waistline so that the skirt is full and falls in drapes. The dress does up with a metal zipper at the side. I posed the dress with a crinoline to create a fuller 50s dress skirt look, but no crinoline is provided - you could wear the dress without a crinoline, but the skirt will not look as full.
Label: None - looks to have been seamstress or home made but well done
Fabric: I believe that it is all nylon - nylon chiffon and nylon under fabric
Sizing: No size is indicated, but this 50s dress should fit a medium size - please rely on the following measurements for fit:
Bust: 37” around
Waist: 27” around
Hips: Full, meant to flare out
Length: 41”
Condition: This 50s dress is in very good condition with no wear, tear or staining, just one teensy pull/hole on the nylon chiffon skirt, really not at all visible unless you inspect the area with a strong light behind it, mentioned only in the interest of full disclosure - this has been very well kept over the years.
This is a very nice Happy Days era 50s dress - great piece for Valentine’s Day!
