This is a beautiful quality black velvet jacket made in France by Karl Lagerfeld .  This Karl Lagerfeld jacket is embroidered on its lapels with fabulous goldwork - goldwork is a raised embroidery with a history of use on military and ceremonial garments.  The metallic thread is interspersed with green thread, which gives the embroidery an antiqued look.  The jacket has flared squared lapels, a V shaped neckline, above the wrist length sleeves and has a three button closure.  The gold toned metal buttons are made in a deco inspired form.  There is a pocket built into either side.  The jacket is fully lined in black viscose.

Label: Karl Lagerfeld Made in France.  Karl Lagerfeld is a most prolific designer and an icon of the fashion industry.  He began his career at Pierre Balmain at the age of 17 in 1955.  He designed two collections a year for Jean Patou from 1958 until 1963.  Karl Lagerfeld began designing for Fendi in 1963 and became head designer at Chloe in 1965, staying there until 1983 when he became the head designer and director of Chanel.  He is credited with having revived the Chanel brand and remains there to this day.  He started his own Karl Lagerfeld label in 1984.  He designed collections for Chloe from 1992 until 1996 and still designs for his own label, for Chanel and fur collections for Fendi as well.  (information courtesy of the Vintage Fashion Guild label resource)

Sizing: French size 42 is indicated, which is equivalent to a US size 10-12, so this should fit a medium to large size. Condition:  This Karl Lagerfeld jacket is in very clean condition and free of wear, tear, stains, odour or other defect.  It looks to have seen little use and was well cared for and stored over the years.
