This is a wide brim black straw cartwheel hat trimmed at its edge with synthetic horsehair” braiding.  This cartwheel hat has a rounded crown that is decorated around its base with black satin ribbon.  My hat sizing tool reads 6 7/8, and the opening measures 20 3/4” around, but this should sit on the crown of the head, so it should fit a small to medium sized head.  The hat measures 18 1/2” by 19” across its brim and has a 3 1/2” tall crown.  It is in very good condition with no wear, tear or soiling, looks like it saw little if any use.

Age: difficult to date precisely, but given its label, I would estimate 1960s-1970s
