The 1971 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament Final Four was held at the Astrodome in Houston, Texas. The four teams that made it to the final stage of the tournament were the UCLA Bruins, Villanova Wildcats, Western Kentucky Hilltoppers, and the Kansas Jayhawks.

In the first semifinal game, UCLA defeated Villanova 68-62. UCLA, led by head coach John Wooden and player of the year Bill Walton, dominated most of the game, but Villanova made a late run to make the game closer.

In the second semifinal game, Western Kentucky upset Kansas 77-75 in overtime. Western Kentucky's Jim McDaniels had a game-high 32 points and 18 rebounds, while Kansas' Jo Jo White scored 33 points in the losing effort.

In the championship game, UCLA beat Western Kentucky 68-62 to win their fifth consecutive NCAA championship. Bill Walton had 24 points and 20 rebounds in the game, while Western Kentucky's Jim McDaniels had 21 points and 16 rebounds. UCLA's victory extended their NCAA record winning streak to 45 games.

The 1971 Final Four is notable for being the first to be held in a domed stadium, with the Astrodome's seating capacity of 53,000 being a significant increase from the previous year's Final Four at the University of Maryland's Cole Field House, which held only 14,500 spectators.
