Oklahoma State hadn’t been to a Final Four since Hank Iba’s glory days in the early 1950s. Eddie Sutton's Cowboys would change that during the 1994-1995 season. Led by 7’0” senior Bryant Reeves and guard Randy Rutherford, who each averaged 20ppg and combined for 18 rebounds a night, Oklahoma State won the Big Eight conference tournament and entered the NCAA Tournament as the 4-seed in the East Region.
The Cowboy run through the regionals was unexpected by everyone outside of Stillwater. To reach the Final Four in Seattle they beat 1-seed Wake Forest in the Sweet 16 and 2-seed UMass in the Elite 8. Both of those teams had All-American centers in Tim Duncan and Marcus Camby, respectively. It was Rutherford that starred against Wake Forest with 23 points and 11 rebounds, while "Big Country" dominated against John Calipari’s UMass team with 24/10.
