This is a beautiful quality 1970s vintage cape coat made of black wool. This vintage cape coat was designed by Marielle Fleury for Rainmaster - Fleury is considered to have been one of the most influential Quebec designers and her designs are becoming quite sought after. The wool is of a heavier weight and is fully lined in quilted black acetate that is backed and padded for extra warmth. This vintage cape coat is constructed like a sleeveless coat with large collar, and that closes with four peg buttons and has a cape that is sewn onto it that covers the arms. There is a pocket built into either side.
Label: Rainmaster by Marielle Fleury Made in Canada. Rainmaster was a trademark of Sport Togs, which hired Fleury in 1969 to design a line under her own name.
Sizing: The size label is cut, but this vintage cape coatshould fit a medium to large size. Please note the following measurements for fit:
Coat:
Shoulders: 16” across seam to seam, but the shoulder cap would fit into the cape
Bust: 43” around
Waist: 48”
Hips: 52”
Length: 45” from the shoulder to the hemline
Cape: The cape, of course, just surrounds the coat part
Condition: This vintage cape coat is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear, stains, soiling or odour - this appears to have seen little use and was well cared for and stored over the years.
This is a quality vintage cape coat….nice thick wool that will provide warmth on a blustery fall or moderate winter day or night, the type that Canadians are used to!
