This is a 1940s mens wool coat. This 1940s mens wool coat has high set wide notched lapels, almost like a naval lapel, and padded squared shoulders. It has a six button double breasted front and a flapped pocket at either side with a 15 1/2” centre kick vent at the back. It is lined in blue satin fabric, quilted at the upper front. The wool is very thick and tightly woven with a raised herringbone finish.
Label: None
Color: Navy blue in a slate tone
Sizing: No size is indicated, but this 1940s mens wool coat will fit a medium to large size (42-44), depending on preference for fit and whether you will wear a jacket underneath - please rely on the following measurements for fit, taken from the exterior (please take the thickness of the wool into consideration):
Shoulders: 21” across shoulder seam-to-seam
Sleeves: 26 1/2” from shoulder seam
Sleeve Inseam: 18” long
Chest: 48” around
Waist: 50” around
Hips: 52” around
Overall length: 45", measured flat at the back from the neck seam
Condition: This 1940s mens wool coat is in excellent condition - no pronounced wear, tear, soiling or odour, only the delineation at the back down the seam, probably from pressing, really minor and looks worse in the photo due to the photo lighting (see photo). This has been well cared for and stored over the years.
This is a wonderful 1940s mens wool coat - super quality thick heavy wool, beautifully tailored!
